About Denman Marine

Denman Marine was established in 2005 and is operated by qualified boat builder Andrew Denman with a small team of dedicated and gifted Tasmanian wooden boat builders.

Denman Marine specialises in the construction and repair of wooden boats using both traditional and modern construction methods and materials. From small clinker dinghies to ocean going cruising vessels if it is made of wood, we can build it for you.

We have a purpose built boatbuilding facility in Kettering, Tasmania on the beautiful D'entrecasteaux Channel and can handle vessels up to 50' in the worksop. Our labour rates are low compared to the mainland so extensive re-fit and new build costs are lower.

We have a growing Australia wide reputation for quality boat building and repair work and we only use the finest boat building materials in the world in our vessels.

We have built and repaired vessels for private owners, commercial operators, televsion commercials and the international film industry.

Our aim is to keep the traditional boat building skills alive and to promote wooden boats as a viable alternative to the modern, highly advertised fibreglass boats.

Andrew has owned a variety of different boats from dinghies to multihulls and ocean going yachts and is a keen yachtsman with many thousands of coastal and offshore miles experience.

Andrew's current vessel is a vintage 23 foot timber composite, Iain Farrier designed trailer trimaran - the TT720.

Denman Marine is the sole Australian agent for the exciting range of daysailers designed by Swallow Boats including the renowned BayRaider design that has taken the UK and Europe by storm.

We are also the sole Australian supplier of the world renowned Joubert BS1088 Gaboon / Okoume marine ply which carries Lloyds Register Type Aproval and is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified.

Denman Marine specialises in custom wooden boat building and repair. We utilise both traditional methods such as carvel or clinker and modern methods such as strip planking, cold molding or clinker plywood.

We can custom build to any design - for example those by Iain Oughtred, Paul Gartside, John Welsford, Mark Bowdidge, Francois Vivier, Atkin , Bolger B&B etc.

We are sole Australian agents for Swallow Boats including the BayRaider and also importers and re-sellers of the world renowned Joubert BS1088 Gaboon Marine Plywood ( Lloyds certified and FSC certified).
