wooden boat building.
Quality Workmanship
We can build either
traditional wooden boats in clinker or carvel construction or modern timber composite boats such as hard chine,
clinker ply, stitch and glue, cold molded or strip planked vessels. Monohulls or multihulls - we don't
mind!
We are more than happy to partially construct a vessel to any stage and this is a great way
to accelerate your project.

Repairs and Restoraton
Many older wooden boats have special appeal to their owners and Denman Marine can help with minor or major
repairs and also full restorations to any type of timber vessel.
For example, we are currently
restoring Teal, a lovely carvel vessel built in the 1940's. She has had her shape corrected, lines taken
off, new backbone installed and will be given a cold molded overlay to extend her life for many years to come.
If you have a vessel that needs restoring, our lower labour rates can make a job affordable.
The
Best Materials
We only use the finest materials
available and are fortunate to have access to the best boatbuilding timbers in the world - Huon Pine, King Billy Pine and
Celery Top Pine. We also use West System and ATL Composite epoxies in our modern composite boats as well as the renowned
Joubert Lloyds certified BS1088 Gaboon marine plywood.
Competitive Labour Rates
Being a smaller custom builder, we are able to offer very
competitive labour rates compared to mainland builders and offer interstate delivery on any vessels constructed. Over
the past few years we have built vessels for clients in Sydney, Gippsland Lakes, Jindabyne, Lake Macquarie and Melbourne as
well as boats in our local area. All trailerable boats can be taken to the mainland on the Spirit of Tasmania Bass
Strait ferry.
Our price competitive labour rates and the value
of the Australian dollar to other world currencies also makes our pricing very attractive for overseas clients. Vessels
exported from Australia are generally not subject to local Goods and Services tax so why not take advantage of the combination

Timber
Milling Service
At Denman Marine we realise that many smaller boatbuilders, including home
builders don't have the equipment to process rough sawn timber to dimensioned size required for you project. We
offer a timber milling service including a thin kerf re-saw ability that loses less than 3mm after cutting
and thicknessing which is just the thing for planking stock.
No matter how small the job, Denman Marine
can cut your timber to size so you can get on with your project. For example, recent jobs include processing
Huon/King Billy/Celery Top Pine for a deck on a lovely speedboat and re-sawing planking stock for a major restoration.
Freight is very reasonable to most mainland destinations.
Kit Boats
Kit boats can really take the pain out of
building and are a quck way to get on the water. We are the sole Australian kit agents for the Swallow Boats range of daysailers and
Bowdidge Marine Designs powerboats.
All our kits are precision cut with a CNC router out of our high quality Joubert marine plywood.

Joubert BS1088 Gaboon / Okoume Marine Plywood
Denman Marine has recently been appointed the sole Australian supplier of the world renowned Joubert BS1088 Gaboon
marine plywood.
The Joubert BS1088 Gaboon marine plywood we supply is certified by Lloyds Register will
also carry Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification which confirms that the timber used in the ply is sourced
form sustainably managed forests.
We will be carrying 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 25mm marine ply which is competitively
priced against our locally produced hoop marine ply but is lighter.

Training
Have you bought plans and are unsure where to go? Like to learn a new boatbuilding
technique?
Many people buy a set of plans but never make a start for many reasons. For some it's
time, others concern about lack of skill, or no workshop tools to cut up larger timbers.
At Denman Marine, we can provide training that enables
you to learn new skills to help advance your project or just experience the joys of working with wooden boats.
We provide training in areas from costing your project to wooden boatbuilding
techniques. We provide hands on, practical one on one or small class size tuition that will accelerate your project
and leave you satisfied that you have learned a new and wonderful skill.
We are also able to provide support (email, telephone etc)
for your project whether you are in Tasmania or interstate.

Boats for Film and Televsion
Denman Marine has experience in the
provision of boats for the film and television industry.
We can either provide a completed boat and support services
as we did for the FFA's commercial for Australia's bid for the Soccer World Cup (seen below) or we can provide basic
construction of vessels to any design that can be finished by the relevant art department (as we recently did for Walden Media's
Voyage of the Dawn Treader movie - see below).
Short notice builds can usually be accommodated and attention to
detail is a specialty. We also have Naval Architect facilities available for design purposes.
