Hirundo

Hirundo visits Tasmania

Andy Goss and partner Michelle recently visited Tasmania with their Denman Marine built Bay Raider 20 Hirundo in tow as part of 'A Jolly Journey'.

"Our next adventure takes us to Tasmania where we will set sail from Devonport and see where the wind blows us, exploring all the nooks and crannies Tassie has to offer." -Michelle

That they did, kicking off from Devonport they sailed down the west coast to Strahan and up the Gordon river. Then across to the east coast of Tasmania for some more exploring before heading home.

While Hirundo has been customized for extended coastal cruising, it is simply amazing the adventures that can be had in a small, well built boat. You can follow Andy and Michelle's entire adventure in detail here

Sliding Seat Rowing Unit installed in an Expedition Wherry

Sliding Seat Rowing Unit

A few years ago, Denman Marine approached a local firm to produce a sliding seat rowing unit that could be manufactured in Tasmania for the Australian market. The brief was to produce a rowing unit of high quality that could be "dropped in" to any Chesapeake Light Craft design that is capable of accommodating a sliding seat rowing unit.

We are proud to have provided this great product together with Rowfit International to many satisfied customers over the last few years. Rowfit International has been involved with the rowing sport for over 20 years, with experience in producing Olympic level components. Some of the components in our sliding seat rowing unit have in fact been used by Olympic level rowers.

There is a choice of either clear finished or black anodized starting at $1050. If you would like more information or to purchase a sliding seat rowing unit please contact us.

Barton Marine ClamSeal

The Barton ClamSeal™ can instantly repair inflatable splits and tears up to 90mm (3 ½ ") in length without the use of any hand tools, or adhesive.

ClamSeal™ is a patented glue-less repair system and instantly repairs small tears or splits in inflatables above or below the waterline - regardless of the fact that the material may be wet.

The system works by using two half "shells" that screw together tightly, using the inflatable material itself as a water and air-tight seal. It is quick and easy to fit and effects an immediate repair which can keep you afloat until a more permanent repair can be made.

The ClamSeal™ is only $29.99 plus $5 postage and handling anywhere in Australia. See here for further details or contact us to place an order.

Tenderly 10

Tenderly 10

Here's a beautiful 10-foot dinghy or daysailer, Tenderly, that slots between CLC's 7'9" Eastport Pram and the 11'7" Passagemaker Dinghy.

John Harris had been mulling over a "stem-dinghy" that was both handsome and easy-to-build, and Tenderly is the result. Prototypes were built in Fall 2016 and launched over the winter.

Tenderly is ten feet long, 52" wide, and will handle a 425-pound payload. The hull features graceful lapstrake planking and easily-driven lines. Stability is solid and she'll handle two adults and a child. The traditional interior includes standard scuppered inwales and optional floorboards. Rigged with a large, efficient balanced lug sail, she's sporty and responsive on all points. She also rows well with one, two, or three passengers, and moves nicely with a 2hp outboard. Wood-epoxy composite construction ensures rugged durability.

Denman Marine is expecting the files in the coming weeks from CLC who are currently in the final stages of development. Please contact us to express your interest in the Tenderly 10 kit so we can let you know as soon as it is ready to go.
